General

Since 2002, TNT has been an active partner of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the world's largest humanitarian aid agency. Each year, WFP provides food aid to an average of 100 million people, including 56 million children, in more than 80 countries. Unfortunately, that is not enough. There are 1 billion undernourished people in the world today. That means one in nearly six people know what it is like to go to bed hungry.

TNT commits its knowledge, skills and resources to support WFP in its life saving effort. To date TNT has invested €38 million in the partnership in the form of hands-on support in emergencies, knowledge transfer projects to help WFP to be more efficient and effective, and advocacy and fundraising activities. On top of this, TNT employees have raised an additional €9 million for WFP’s School Feeding Programme.

Organisation

In December 2002, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and TNT launched a groundbreaking partnership aimed at a single common goal: fighting world hunger. This partnership was given the name Moving the World.

The dedicated members of the Moving the World team are successfully running the TNT-WFP partnership. Together with TNT employees they are putting their hearts and minds to work to contribute to the alleviation of poverty all over the world.

TNT aims to support WFP in four forms of support: Knowledge Transfer, Hands-on Support in emergency operations, Awareness and Fundraising and Transport for Good. TNT runs its side of the partnership like any other business unit with the same stringent requirements in terms of transparency and accountability.
